President & CEO
Barron Industries
Bruce Barron is President/CEO of Barron Industries, a turnkey manufacturer of precision machined castings and assemblies for aerospace, defense, space and other commercial industries. Bruce is the 3rdgeneration owner of the Barron family’s metalcasting company that started as a Detroit foundry more than a hundred years ago. Bruce became mesmerized with molten metal at a young age, spending his summers working in the Detroit sand casting foundry with his father. With the hope of joining the family business someday, Bruce earned a chemistry degree from the University of Notre Dame and went to work at a Chicago chemical company. But his fire for the foundry business fueled his return to Michigan when his father acquired an investment casting plant and Bruce joined the company. He started in technical sales, engineering and operations, becoming president of Barron Industries in 2001 and CEO in 2007.
Bruce has overseen the expansion of the original 15- thousand square-foot foundry to its current 60-thousand square foot turnkey manufacturing facility including engineering, CNC machining, and quality testing departments. Another 20- thousand square foot expansion is planned for 2024. While Barron’s core business is metalcasting, it has evolved into a vertically integrated precision component manufacturer. The production process starts with design for manufacturing and rapid prototyping to ensure efficiency and quality. Post-casting capabilities include in-house machining, coating and assembly, providing a completed subsystem component.
Barron Industries has earned multiple quality certifications including AS9100D and Nadcap Accreditation for computer radiography, liquid penetrant testing and welding. The company has also won numerous industry awards for its aerospace and military castings that have been converted from multi-piece fabrications into stronger and less costly investment castings. In addition, Barron has received supplier performance awards from many leading aerospace and defense companies including BAE, Boeing, GE Aviation, General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin. In recognition of its commitment to workforce development, Barron has received the Michigan Works! Impact Award and was named the Oakland County Business of the Year.
Bruce has served as Chairman of the Investment Casting division of the American Foundryman’s Society, the Oakland Schools Technical Campus Machining Advisory Committee, and the Notre Dame Preparatory School Board of Trustees in Pontiac, Michigan.
