Tim Born received his BS in Biochemistry from Calvin College and his PhD in Biochemistry from the Mayo Clinic. He then spent four years as a research fellow at Albert Einstein College of Medicine working to identify novel antibacterial targets. From 2000 – 2013 he was a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at George Mason University. In 2013 he joined Grand Valley State University as the coordinator of their Professional Science Master’s Programs. In 2018 he took the position of Associate Dean in the Padnos College of Engineering and Computing. He currently serves as the Interim Dean of the Padnos College of Engineeering at GVSU and is the President of the National Professional STEM Master’s Association. His professional passions include connecting with industry partners to provide outstanding co-op opportunities for GVSU engineering students and support K-12 outreach activities to ensure a strong pipeline of STEM talent.
